IN RHYTHM
WITH THE CHILD
Waldorf pedagogy, founded by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, recognises that the child unfolds in seven-year arcs: body until seven, feeling until fourteen, thinking until twenty-one.
Each phase asks for different gestures: in the early years, imitation and rhythm; in primary school, living images and rhythm; later, critical thinking.
At La Stella we walk the second seven-year arc — from the second class to the first year of middle school. Each morning opens with song and circle; main subjects are taught in four-week "blocks" (epoche), so the child can go deep before turning to new ground.

A COLLECTIVE OF FAMILIES
In Italy, families can choose parental education — teaching their children themselves, entrusting the teaching to someone else, or mixing the two. La Stella is a collective of families who made that choice together.
We pooled our homeschool rights, hired our own teachers, and made a place for the children to gather. By law our children are homeschooled. In practice, a small team of teachers welcomes them each morning at the trullo, and the rhythm of the day feels like any other school — drop-off in the morning, pick-up in the afternoon, while parents go to work.
The legal frame is different; the days are full of learning, friendship, and Puglia sunlight.
A DAY AT LA STELLA
Come and see for yourself.
Every week we welcome visiting families. One morning is worth a thousand words.
